If you're asking yourself, "who is Jo Koy?" then you obviously don't watch Chelsea Lately as religiously as I do! Jo is one of the regulars at Chelsea's roundtable and he is a hoot! So, in that thinking, it would make since that his stand up performances would be equally hilarious.
Not necessarily true! Yes, I laughed, yes, some of the jokes were pretty funny, but I would not rate him up there with some of the best performers out today. For one thing, he tended to linger a little too long with some of the jokes. I was ready to move on as they weren't as funny as he thought, but he would dwell on them.
He does have quite a bit of charisma, though! This DVD was of his live performance in New York City. His stage presence is very good. I like his voice, I like his delivery, I just felt like the jokes were not all that great. I definitely liked his impersonations of his Filipino mother and his mockery of the people of Alabama, but for the most part, this performance fell short for me.
Special features include his Comedy Central Presents special and interviews.
Family Time Factor: Date night movie- not really suitable for watching with the kids!
MOTR Grade: C
