I LOVE Steve Martin! From his stints on SNL (which I wasn't really alive for, but have seen) to The Jerk (one of my all time faves) he has made me laugh time and time again. Unfortunately, I find myself thinking he is not quite as endearing as Inspector Clouseau. Did I laugh? Sure, I did! Did I fall off my chair laughing hysterically? Not so much.
In The Pink Panther 2, Clouseau is invited to join the Dream Team- a group of amateur investigators who have been assembled to find the thief that has been stealing some major historical artifacts, like the Magna Carta and the Turin. Prior to this, he had been working as a parking officer. After joining the team in Japan, he finds out that the Pink Panther diamond has been stolen and the Dream Team heads off to catch the thief. As expected, many crazy antics ensue throughout the mission which make Clouseau seem like a fool when really, he might actually be a genius.
As I mentioned, this movie does have several laughs here and there, but compared to some of Steve Martin's other work, it did not impress me greatly.
Family Time Factor: Appropriate for pretty much any age. Can be watched as a family.
MOTR Grade: C+
The Pink Panther 2 is currently available on dvd and blu-ray!!!
