So when I was a youngster, I had Nickelodeon, but not Disney. On those rare mornings when I was up before the higher ranking remote holders, I was in love with watching the likes of Ren & Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life and Aaah!!! Real Monsters! Aaah... focuses on three young monsters — Ickis, Oblina and Krumm — who attend an institute for monsters under a city dump and learn to frighten humans. Many of the episodes revolve around them making it to the surface in order to perform "scares" as class assignments
When I was offered this to review I was excited! Not only would I get to wax nostalgic about the times of my childhood when life was easier, drama was watching Days of Our Lives and bills were something I had no clue about. And, I wanted to see if my kids would equally enjoy it. (Okay, so I wanted an excuse to watch it.) Plus, my kids like to think they are into "scary" stuff, but they really aren't and cartoon monsters are about as extreme as I think they can handle.
Distributor info: "Ickis, Oblina and Krumm are back for a second season of spine-chilling, gut-busting adventures! Sit back and enjoy as these three young monsters take everything they’ve learned from The Gromble about scaring and put it to good use. That is, of course, unless they’re trapped by Simon, the most determined monster-hunter in town! A must-have for Nickelodeon fans, cartoon fanatics and DVD collectors alike, this 2 DVD set will be available nationwide May 15.
Starring the voice talents of Charlie Adler (The Super Hero Squad Show), Christine Cavanaugh (Rugrats), Gregg Berger (Transformers), Tim Curry (Clue) and James Belushi (Hoodwinked!), Aaahh!!! Real Monsters aired on Nickelodeon from 1994-2000 and returned in 2002 on the Nicktoons Network. In 2006, the show began airing on Nick Rewind. The show was nominated for a Daytime Emmy in Outstanding Achievement in Animation."
Family Time Factor: This show definitely spans the ages! It's more than tolerable for adults and I think kids ages 4 and up will enjoy it!
